Pascal was thirty-nine years old when he died, I will soon be thirty-seven. That means I have barely two years left, which isn’t much time! He left behind his scattered defense of Christianity. I want to gather my thoughts on the defense of the human in the face of death.
O, if only I had died ten thousand years ago, and already lived again three times since.
He loves the wind and lets himself be incinerated to at last be carried off by it.
The “slain” — how grand that sounds, how expansive, how embracing and brave; the “suffocated,” the “crushed,” the “charred,” the “exploded”: how cheap they all sound, as if no price had been paid!
The dead are nourished on judgment, the living on love.
He hopes, without God noticing, to live a long time.
tenure and time only allows you to see lifetimes and patterns, it doesnt allow you to have better judgement necessarily. it just allows you to know that the train is crashing (crowd delusion, not much you can do about it)

all jobs incl. artists and writers have some amount of unarticulated logic in their work process that can be greatly assisted by a gpt model

is this the man i wanted to be? is this the goal i wanted to reach? what is the point of meditation and reading and exercise if i consciously/subconsciously squander it for hits of dopamine in a continuous drip? is spending time with myself truly so taxing?

reading after waking up = draining, the edges of sleep cling to the body
scrolling social media after waking up = energy neutral/slight boost
i think there’s something here about why reading is worthwhile. reading isn’t energetically free, and social media is.

I like this because I think it’s a really interesting representation of fear. Sometimes we’re only afraid of the immediate event. The lion getting its prey. But what if what you fear is a pitcher plant. A slow descent towards demise.
my favorite piece from the itp show this year (a static piece at least). great 3d print

ppl only know 2 to 4 of the things that you did during your life. For example, Michelangelo - public knows “Pietà,” “David,” and the Sistine Chapel. it’s more important to have a large body of work where any individual thing has chance to become the thing remembered.
Paired with some prodigal output, a beautiful thing about ycb it is a one-of-a-kind experience without having to force it in the sense of using NFTs to verify its scarcity. It’s scarce because these are the ideas I wrote at the time that I wrote them. That’s what makes it scarce.
one of my goals w ycb is to create a DaVinci-like experience. I love da Vinci’s sketchbooks - obviously he has famous pieces of work, but the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are not what make him interesting as an individual. It was his codexes and his easter egg quirks that made him fascinating to us
autocorrect sucks for me. It makes me spend more time than the time that it saves me. And especially now that you can edit messages that you’ve already sent with SMS. It almost makes no sense to leave autocorrect on your iPhone in my opinion.
track life by number of walks taken (especially on the beach)

In guarding their fortune men are often close-fisted, yet, when it comes to the matter of wasting time, in the case of the one thing in which it is right to be miserly, they show themselves most prodigal.

the reason you want to capture things as they are unfiltered with ycb is to give people your perspective of an era – though one could make the argument social media has saturated culture and has prevented things that are representative from appearing.
